Dynasty Restaurant
Tucked away on the vibrant stretch of High Road in London’s South Woodford area, Dynasty Restaurant serves up a classic Chinese dining experience that feels both familiar and indulgent. Whether you're popping in for a quick solo lunch or planning a long, laughter-filled dinner with friends, this spot knows how to impress from the first plate to the last.
There’s a casual elegance to the atmosphere here-low lighting, spacious tables, and a steady hum of conversations set the tone for laid-back meals that still feel a bit special. With options for dine-in, takeaway, and delivery, Dynasty makes it easy for guests to enjoy their food however they prefer, without compromising on quality or flavor.
If you're the kind who judges a place by its starters, the Mixed Selection of Starters is a good place to begin. It's a medley of delights like Chicken Satay, Prawn Toast, and Seaweed, offering that satisfying crunch and umami kick that whets your appetite without overpowering. For those who like to start on a lighter note, the Crabmeat & Sweetcorn Soup hits the spot with its velvety texture and savory depth.
Of course, no visit here feels complete without diving into the signature mains. The Duck Pancakes are one of those dishes that make people return again and again-crispy, succulent, and paired with just the right hoisin balance. Fans of bold flavors will gravitate towards the Shredded Chilli Chicken, while those chasing that classic sweet-and-sour profile can’t go wrong with either the Sweet and Sour Chicken or the Sweet and Sour Prawns. There’s also a perfectly executed Mongolian Beef and Peking Duck for those who like their dishes rich, hearty, and unforgettable.
For seafood lovers, the Salt and Pepper Squid and Prawn and Green Peppers in Black Bean Sauce are both standouts. Each dish manages to deliver that balance of spice, salt, and savoriness without being overly greasy-a testament to the kitchen’s tight control over technique. And if you're looking for something slightly different, the Oysters in Black Bean Sauce offer a deep, briny umami note that’s both unexpected and welcome.
The side dishes carry their own weight too. Egg Fried Rice is a safe, satisfying choice, while the Special Fried Rice brings in extra texture and flavor from prawns, vegetables, and egg-all stir-fried to a golden finish. Stir-fried noodles, particularly when paired with a meat or seafood dish, make for a hearty and satisfying combo.
The restaurant also caters to those with bigger appetites or those looking to sample widely, thanks to its “all you can eat” option-ideal for family dinners or group celebrations. Their late-night food offerings are a godsend for those post-evening cravings, and with beer, wine, and spirits available, there’s no shortage of pairing options.
Another charming touch at Dynasty is its great tea selection, perfect for those who enjoy unwinding over a pot of jasmine or oolong. Pair that with the restaurant’s carefully curated wine list, and you're looking at a place that pays attention not just to what’s on the plate, but what’s in the glass too.
Accessibility-wise, while there’s no wheelchair-accessible car park, there is accessible seating, making dine-in more comfortable for many guests.
Whether you’re craving Chinese classics or exploring new favorites, Dynasty Restaurant delivers with consistency, variety, and a touch of flair that keeps locals and newcomers coming back. It’s the kind of place that feels just as right for a casual weekday bite as it does for a more celebratory meal.
Reviews
I'm a Taiwanese and I absolutely love the flavour and taste of their food. I think the flavoir is quite authentic, although flavour is a very objective preference. Anyway, we went there to celebrate my sister's birthday with the family, recommended by my sister-in-law who has come back for the restaurant for multiple times. The service was really great, they are very polite, humble and respectful. We went with the all-you-can-eat option (28 per person, half price for kids) and it is really divine I would definitely come back again. We went there at 2pm on a Sunday.
Came here for a 50th birthday meal, the food was lovely, the service was amazing, the staff were so kind and made us feel welcomed and comfortable the whole time. 7 of us were full up by the eat as much as you like for 30 a head. Would definitely come back.
Such a lovely Chinese restaurant. Delicious food, affordable and such lovely service from the lady and the gentleman. The egg fried rice was light and perfect, not the dry brown hard oily grains you get at other takeaways. We also ordered lamb in black bean sauce and chilli chilli prawns. We were welcomed with complementary prawn crackers and our water was topped up kindly with ice. It has the old school Chinese restaurant decor which I love and brings nostalgia so really nice that they haven’t modernised it however I normally love the original Chinese restaurant love music they used to have but that is a minor minor niggle as compared to how yummy the food was and how exceptionally lovely the staff were. We felt so welcome and cosy. They do takeaway too so I will definitely keep coming
Our table of eight people enjoyed a smashing evening at the restaurant yesterday evening celebrating a friend‘s birthday. Apart from the restaurant itself needing a little bit of TLC, the food and its presentation was absolutely superb and extremely tasty and fulfilling. I cannot fault the waiting service either, they were very attentive at all times and extremely friendly. The ‘eat all you can’ menu for 30 per person was well worth the money and I would highly recommend this eatery to all.
Love this place! I've been coming here for over a decade and nothing much has changed. Great food, great buffet options and great service. A nice place to chill out with friends or go out for a family dinner. We also bought 3 bottles of champagne, 3 cokes and we paid the birthday boys bill also so without all the added I would have spent between 30-40, albeit paying 59 for the amount of food that we ate, plus the bottles is more than worth it.
